OSN 9800 Series SW Overview

Product Overview

OSN 9800 series switches are a new generation of high-performance and high-density switches launched for data center scenarios.

OSN 9800 series switches are designed with advanced hardware architecture, providing versatile interface speeds (100GE/40GE/25GE/10GE/GE) and high-density port configurations (supporting up to 128×100GE ports). All ports support wire-speed forwarding, and the switches are equipped with redundant hot-swappable power supplies and fans. Designed for next-generation data center core and access networks, they deliver high bandwidth and large-capacity server connectivity.

Product Features

Green and energy- Efficient system design

  • Intelligent fan speed adjustment and real-time power consumption monitoring reduce operational costs and enable green, energy-efficient data centers.

Intelligent Ethernet OAM: Comprehensive Fault Management and Performance Assurance

  • End-to-end OAM, based on IEEE802.1ag and ITU-T Y.1731 protocols, enables Ethernet service providers to proactively monitor their services and measure end-to-end performance to ensure that customers receive services that meet contracted SLAs.
  • Fault management includes CCM/LTM/LBM, while performance measurement covers frame delay and delay variation..
  • Supports EFM (Ethernet in the First Mile) based on 802.3ah standards, enabling peer discovery, link monitoring, fault notification, remote loopback, and MIB parameter retrieval.

Abundant DCB features for data centers

  • Supports cutting-edge data center features: Priority-Based Flow Control (PFC), Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN), and Data Center TCP.
  • Supports Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation (MLAG):Achieves cross-device link aggregation, enhancing link reliability from board-level to device-level by forming an Active-Active system. Two aggregation switches are connected via a Peer-link, operating as a single logical device. Compared with stacking, the devices that make up MLAG still need to be managed separately, but the MLAG configuration is relatively simple, and there is no need to restart after the configuration is completed.MLAG allows all ports to participate in traffic forwarding without relying on inter-device paths, minimizing latency and avoiding bandwidth bottlenecks.
  • Supports Overlay technology (VXLAN/NVGRE/GENEVE): Enables Layer 2 packets to traverse Layer 3 networks by encapsulating inner Ethernet frames with VXLAN/NVGRE/GENEVE. It can solve the limitations of device MAC address entry specifications on network scale, the number of VLAN IDs on network isolation capabilities, and the VLANs in traditional networks. VPN technology cannot meet the needs of dynamic network adjustmen. For example, VXLAN’s 24-bit VNI supports up to 16.77 million logical networks, allowing seamless VM migration with unchanged IP/MAC addresses.
  • Both MLAG and Overlay are ideal for data center network switches.

Carrier-class reliability

  • Support Hot-swappable modular power supplies with AC/DC 1+1 redundancy, 2+1 redundant fans with intelligent speed control, and real-time monitoring of chipset temperature, power, and fan status.
  • Comprehensive protection protocols: LACP/ECMP/VRRP/VARP/STP/RSTP/MSTP/Smart Link/BFD/ERPS/G.8031/G.8032/Load Balancing.
  • Supports Sysmon ,which can monitor the CPU status and take protective measures in case of software errors.

Excellent QoS strategy

  • 13 hardware queues per port (8 unicast + 4 multicast + 1 mirroring). Supports congestion management via WDRR (Weighted Deficit Round Robin), SP (Strict Priority), TD (Tail Drop), and WRED (Weighted Random Early Detection). Flexible queue/port-level traffic shaping.
  • Intelligent bandwidth monitoring with granularity adjustment based on port speed. Supports srTCM (single-rate three-color marking) and trTCM (dual-rate three-color marking).

Comprehensive Network security mechanisms

  • Multi-level security controls: user, switch, and network.
  • IPv4/IPv6/MAC ACLs for filtering IPv4/IPv6/non-IP traffic. Extended IPv4/IPv6 ACLs match L2/L3/L4 headers in a single rule. ACLs can be applied to physical ports, VLANs, port groups, or VLAN groups to optimize TCAM usage.
  • ARP inspection, IP Source Guard, CPU traffic protection, storm control, and centralized 802.1x authentication to block unauthorized access.

Perfect management features

  • Supports multiple management interfaces, including Console, in-band/out-of-band ports and USB ports. It supports SNMPv1/v2/v3, CLI, Web UI, TELNET, FTP and OAM,.And supports SSH2.0, SSL and other encryption methods , which makes device management more convenient and secure.
